The Gambas Platform Engine is a platform engine by Piga Software. It is utilized in the game Windys. It is a typical platform engine allow players to move left, right, up and down (in the case of Windys by the use of ladders). There is to be scrolling versions and non-scrolling versions. The next version of the engine is going to go beyond what is in Windys, with true scrolling, jumping, gravity, and smarter artificial intelligence. It is meant to be geared for action games and puzzle games. It is being created in Gambas. Piga Software is also considering eventually adding Mesa 3D effects to the engine later as well, allowing it to make games similar to Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project, which marketed itself as a "true-3D platform game". It is part of the multiple goals of Piga Software to create several free software Gambas engines that can both make powerful games and have them easy to develop to encourage the expansion of free software gaming.
